We reached out to the official sources regarding the availability of these accessories, and they informed us that they will be available for sale around mid-July. (Update: Some accessories is on sale now)According to the official feedback, installing these upgrade parts will result in a more stable and smooth operation of the machine. Let’s take a look at the currently available upgrade parts that can be adapted to the K1.

Creality K1 Upgrades

1. Creality K1 High-Speed Nozzle

The original K1 nozzle is made of brass and has a diameter of 0.4mm. The upgraded version of this nozzle kit includes a total of 4 copper alloy nozzles and 4 hardened steel nozzles, each set containing 2x 0.4mm, 1x 0.6mm, and 1x 0.8mm nozzles.

The copper alloy has a high thermal conductivity with a thermal conductivity coefficient of 330W/m.k, ensuring uniform heating. Additionally, compared to regular nozzles, the copper alloy nozzle has twice the volume, allowing it to fully support K1’s claimed printing speed of 600mm/s.

The surface of the copper alloy nozzle is coated with a nickel layer, significantly reducing material adhesion and enabling smoother filament extrusion. The inner bore roughness of the nozzle is less than 0.4, resulting in smooth material flow. It is compatible with most FDM materials such as PLA, ABS, PETG, TPE, TPU, and PC, as well as high-temperature materials like PEEK, PEKK, PEI, PSU, and PPSU.

The hardened steel nozzle utilizes advanced heat treatment processes, providing enhanced corrosion resistance, high hardness, and increased wear resistance. It has a longer lifespan and is suitable for use with PLA, ABS, PETG, TPE, TPU, and PC, as well as composite materials containing additives like carbon fiber, fiberglass, steel, wood, boron carbide, tungsten, and phosphorescent pigments.

Moreover, the copper alloy nozzle can withstand temperatures up to 500 degrees Celsius, while the hardened steel nozzle can handle temperatures up to 450 degrees Celsius, ensuring efficient heating and continuous printing with high-temperature materials.

2. Creality K1 AI Camera

The AI camera is a standard upgrade accessory for the K1 and is also one of the upgrade options when transitioning from K1 to K1 Max. It focuses on two core functions: AI detection and time-lapse photography. Once the AI camera is installed and the AI detection feature is enabled, the machine automatically recognizes any abnormalities on the print bed before starting the print.

If any irregularities are detected, the machine will pause the print automatically to prevent nozzle collisions or other issues. Additionally, the machine continuously monitors for anomalies during the printing process, minimizing material waste by pausing the print if necessary. You can conveniently monitor the printing progress in real time through the Creality Cloud app or Creality Print.

The installation of the AI camera is straightforward as the K1 machine itself has reserved interfaces specifically designed for it. Simply attach the camera to the designated mount and rotate it into place using the provided fastening mechanism.

Some individuals who have used the K1 printer multiple times encountered an issue known as Under-extrusion Problem with the K1. Upon investigation, it was discovered that the extruder block had cracked, potentially due to overtightening or the differential expansion of the heat break and heat block metals at varying temperatures.

Here are some suggested steps to address the issue:

1. Disassembly: Begin by removing the back three screws and cover, and then lift the extruder from the printhead. Proceed to remove the remaining two screws to disconnect the extruder from the stepper motor. Keep the stepper motor attached to the printer. Take the extruder gear components to a well-lit work area for cleaning and examination.

2. Inspect the Gears: Observe the gap between the gears when the lever is both open and closed. If the gap appears to be too wide, it indicates the source of the problem.

3. Disassemble the Extruder: Carefully dismantle the extruder. Remove the plastic cover, unscrew the red-painted screws without damaging the torque-warning paint, and take out the drive gears. Thoroughly clean all parts. Lift and remove the reduction-drive gear along with the top bearing, which will expose the base plate and moving plate that holds the extruder gears.

4. Apply Kapton Tape: In some cases, adding two layers of Kapton tape on the pivot corner of the moving plate can act as a shim. This adjustment moves the tip of the moved gear closer to the top of the drive gear.

5. Handle with Care: Avoid bending the metal where the gear mounts, as it can lead to further issues. Pay attention to the entire moving plate, as the knob can impact extrusion pressure if it is bent forward. If necessary, gently bend the knob back slightly to prevent any complications.

Following these steps has proven effective in resolving the issue temporarily. Users have reported achieving a 100% printing speed without any under-extrusion problems.

4. K1 Smooth PEI Magnetic Build Plate Kit 235 * 235mm

The Creality Official K1 Smooth PEI Magnetic Build Plate Kit is super cool for 3D printing enthusiasts. It works with a bunch of popular 3D printers like the Ender series, CR 20 Pro, and Aquila X2, all with a build plate size of 235x235mm.

One neat thing about this build plate is its user-friendly design. They added double handles to make it easy to handle without getting burned, and there are positioning holes to help you install it quickly. Plus, they put an R-angle edge design to make it safer for you to use.

The best part is the strong magnetic force. It keeps the build plate firmly in place, even when you’re printing at high temperatures. No more worries about your prints shifting around during the process!

And get this—it’s made from durable PEI material, which means it can handle wear and tear like a champ. It’s also flame retardant and stays reliable even after lots of high-temperature printing.

When it’s time to take off your printed models, you’ll love how easy it is. No need for any fancy tools—just bend the plate, and your models come right off. It saves you time and hassle!

The doors of the Creality K1 printer tend to rattle quite severely, causing inconvenience and disruption. It seems that Creality may have opted for cost-saving measures by utilizing two small rods within a metal hole as hinges. Consequently, the doors move freely and occasionally slam shut forcefully.

However, a quick fix is available to address this problem. The author focused on modifying only the lower base of the doors since the top hinge connects directly to the frame. This adjustment aims to enhance stability and reduce rattling. Further improvements for the top hinge will be considered at a later stage. Check the Video to see the way it was fitted.

7. Creality K1 Riser

To prevent the reverse Bowden tube from scraping against the cover of the Creality K1 printer, the author has devised a solution called the “K1 Riser.” This innovative accessory comes in two versions, each catering to different user preferences and specific printing materials.

The first version is the short version, featuring open vents. This design is particularly favored by users who primarily work with PLA printing. The open vents allow for better airflow and ventilation, which is beneficial for PLA filament. To install the short version, you will need four 6x2mm magnets and four M3 cap screws. These components securely hold the Risers in place, ensuring stability during printing operations.

The second version is the enclosed version, designed specifically for printing ABS and ASA materials. Unlike the short version, the enclosed version does not require magnets and screws. These components are optional, offering flexibility based on user preference and specific printing needs.

The K1 Riser serves as a practical and effective solution, preventing the reverse Bowden tube from scraping against the cover of the printer. By utilizing either the short version or the enclosed version, users can optimize their printing experience while ensuring the protection of their equipment and achieving the desired printing results for different filament materials.
